We’re Matt & Sally- two mates gearing up for an epic adventure in August 2025 as part of the Mystery Box Rally! Armed with our trusty 1982 Ford Meteor, we’ll be driving 2,500kms through the rugged outback, starting and finishing in Broken Hill.
We’re hitting the road as Rave ‘n’ Misbehave—because who says fundraising can’t be fun? While our team name promises good times, our mission is dear to our hearts: raising funds for Cancer Council to support those battling cancer, honour the survivors, and remember those we’ve lost.
Mystery Box Rally is one of Australia’s largest community-led fundraisers for Cancer Council, having raised over $8 million in the past 12 years. Each day of the rally is a complete mystery- we won’t know where we’re heading until the morning of departure!
To take part, we need to raise $5,000, and 100% of funds go directly to Cancer Council to support their vital work. Your support means the world to us and to everyone affected by cancer.

Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
