Too many of our friends and family have dealt with, fought with, or are still fighting Cancer. Too many of them still find it taboo to talk about. We had a colleague quit his job and disappear because he didn't feel he could tell his workplace or his employer that he had testicular cancer. This year our fundraising journey isn't just about raising money for life-changing cancer research, it's about starting a conversation - and reminding ourselves that it is ok to not be ok. There is no better place to start than with a bright green attention-grabbing wagon, whether it's on the roadside, or attending one of Brisbane's 10,000 strong events in the CarMunity.
Mystery Box Rally is one of the largest community lead fundraising events for Cancer Council in Australia having raised over $8 million in the last 12 years. This rally, starting in Mad Max Country, will have us driving our trusty Falcon along outback roads, with no AWD, no 4WD, and a mystery map from each morning briefing. Logging in nearly 2,500km in 5 days, this journey will be tough - but nowhere near as hard as doing Cancer on your own. If you would like to join this EF-it, we need to raise over $4000 in donations before taking the start-line in August '25, with every dollar raised going directly to the Cancer Council. Mystery Box Rally is a 5-day challenge like no other. Participants drive 25+ year old cars along a mystery route, through some of Australia’s most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It’s not a race—it’s a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that’s all part of the fun. The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way. And when the day’s drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day’s achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways—whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we’ll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Founded in 2009, Box Rallies has raised well over $50 million for cancer research with our chosen beneficiary being Cancer Council.
We are proud to be the funder of national cancer research projects after the Australian Government. These enormous funds raised go towards vital cancer research projects.
